The significance of the letter “L” precedence in the LGBTQ+
The letter L comes first in LGBTQ+ as a tribute to the lesbian community’s critical role during the AIDS epidemic. In the time period between the 1980s and the 1990s, lesbians provided essential support to gay men affected by the crisis, offering care, advocacy, and solidarity when it was desperately needed. By placing L at the front, we honor their selfless contributions and acknowledge their leadership during one of the community’s darkest times, expressing gratitude and ensuring that the sacrifices and strength of lesbians are always remembered.
With this in mind, I wanted to dedicate this blog to the great achievements of the LGBTQ+ community and embracing the spirit of World Pride Month 2024 in all its vibrant colors.
